Having investigated User Interaction within the digital world and in the real world I was keen to bring these two together in one final piece. By doing this I thought to understand how we navigate and move around a digital space I would create a virtual, and very basic 3D space to resemble that of a floor within a building.
I wanted to apply rules we believe control how we interact and see if this can control how we move in such a space.
I want the user to move around freely but elements deliberately placed would control them without them realising. I have placed doors whereby some are fully open some partially closed, and they are coloured red, some are coloured green, and to match with the data I have gathered so far I have included the colour blue. I have placed a few pictures on the walls…one quite grey one, one very colourful, and the other of a smiling happy family to see if this would control which doorway they enter. I have also placed objects, be it just shapes or actual furniture some in the centre of the room and others right by the doorways.
I shall then place this within a games station whereby the movement of the user via their computers can be recorded and also timed. They will only have the simple instruction to travel by any way they wish from one side of the building to out the otherside. Because they shall be travelling around at ground level (not like shown in the image above) they shall not know what is in each room and I hope that curiosity would ensure they have a good look to see if the unknown pays a great impact how we move and for how long we are willing to continue until exiting.
